We have student intern opportunities for medical, public health and other disciplines. There may be opportunities for high school interns as well. Working with our staff in the barrio clinic and Central American Headquarters, you can help improve the health and lives of many children. At the same time, you are learning and possibly earning school credits. Because each school has different requirements, we can work with you and the school directly to tailor a program that works best for you, the school and Children Without Borders.
Below is a quote from one of our recent medical interns -
"I had a fantastic time working The Children Without Borders Team this spring. It was a great opportunity to practice some of the medical knowledge I have learned over the past few years, while providing care for a group of people that are in desperate need of it. Learning about Costa Rica's culture, medical system and social factors that shape the health care needs in the country helped to increase my awareness of the needs of people through out the world and the complexity of factors involved. Working with an exclusively Spanish speaking population and living with a host family provided an excellent classroom to practice my Spanish, medical and conversational. Most of all, I am proud to get the chance to impact the lives of others through the help we provided and so glad I was able to share many smiles and laughs with the children and there families living in Anonos and Tibas." - Adam Lorenzetti, West Virginia University, Medical School, June 16, 2009
